TT-Spring Cleaning

It's that time of year again. Open the windows and let the fresh air in along with the pollen.

Make your own All Purpose Cleaner.

Ingredients:
1/2 tsp washing soda

A dab of liquid soap (you can add your laundry mix)
2 cups hot tap water

Directions:
Combine the ingredients in a spray bottle and shake until the washing soda has dissolved.
Apply and wipe off with a sponge or rag.

Tip: If you're out of washing soda, use 2 1/2
tsp of borax, instead.

Add a few drops of Essential oils (love lemon) for scent.

Order some MicroFiber cloths from Amazon. Just .65 a towel. Wash and Reuse. Don't use fabric softener. Try my homemade Laundry Soap recipe instead & purchase some Wool Dryer Balls. I am loving Woolzies brand.

-----------

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 bar soap
  • 1/2 C Borax
  • 1/2 C Washing soda
  • Quart Container
  • Gallon bucket
  • 1/2 Measuring cup

Don't forget to clean your washer too!
Add 3 cups of white vinegar and 1/2 of baking soda.

Vinegar .33
Baking Soda .16
=$.49

Tide $2.62 tablet /tons of perfume

To clean those windows without streaks try this homemade recipe:

Window Cleaner $3.79 savings compared to windex (nearly free to make)

Ingredients:
1/4-1/2 tsp liquid detergent (blue original dawn)
3 tbs vinegar
2 cups water
spray bottle

Directions:
Put all the ingredients into a spray bottle, shake it up a bit, and use as you would a
commercial brand. You must wipe dry to avoid streaks. I like to clean in sections instead of spraying the whole glass at once.

 -----------

Sprinkle Baking soda mixed with tea tree oil to deodorize your mattress. Let it sit for 1 hour then vacuum. Tea Tree is known to repel bed bugs. *Not safe for pets

-----------

Restore the shine on your wood by making your own beeswax polish.
Use 1 part beeswax to 1 part olive oil or jojoba oil. Melt the wax in a double boiler or small burst in the microwave using a Pyrex dish. Once you have the consistency you are looking for (melt and cool) add a cap full of orange oil.

You may need to clean grease marks with a little bit of water, vinegar and baking soda mixture before polishing.

I dipped a small square of an old t-shirt while the mixture was still warm. Polish and then wipe with a clean cloth(microfiber).

  1. These are amazing tips! Right on time for me as I was just thinking today to try and find greener ways to clean my house, because of my daughter's health. You must be a mind reader :)
